Beit Foureek Town underwent several phases which can be summed up as
follows :
- In
1965 the first village council was launched whose members were
appointed by the inhabitants headed by Mr . Abdallah Muhammed
Mahmoud Qasem Abu Samra .
- In
1968 , a year after the Palestinian Crisis ,Mr . Mustafa Ahmad Jabr
was chosen to head the council.
- In
1976 , the first elected council headed by Mr . Khamees Asád
Abdurrazzaq Hanani was on duty . Several chairmen succeeded, in
1977, for instance , Mr . Abdallah Muhammed Abu Samra restored the
council's presidency , but gave it up soon for the sake of Mr . Haj
Hamad
– In
1982 Mr . Muhammed Saleh Zreiqi was appointed to head the council .
A set of troubles due to obstacles imposed by the Israeli occupation
, Mr Abdallah Abu Samra was the chairman for the third time till his
death in 1994, to be followed by his son Mr . Muhammed Abu Samra who
gained the approval of the council's members and local people.
- In
1995 , the Municipal Council was approved by the Ministry of Local
Government . 14 members representing native families were appointed
headed by the late Mr . Muhammed Abu Samra who kept that position
till his death on 11/4/2000.

Between 1/6/2000 – 23/11/2004, Mr. Atef Afeef Hanani headed the
Municipal Council.
- On
23/12/2004 , the first local Municipal elections were held . 11
members ( including 2 women ) were elected .Mr .Husam Abdallah
Hanani became the first elected Mayor . |
